Sales FAQs

Buying, shipping, coverage and financing

08 QUESTIONS
Do you have the service records?

When we have records, we share them. Every unit goes through our intake process, which starts with a full evaluation of the vehicle, including any history we can find. If records came with the vehicle, just ask and we'll send them to you. We run a VINdata report on each vehicle.

What does the dealership do to get bikes ready for sale?

Every unit gets a thorough inspection in our service department. We fix anything that needs repair and do routine maintenance before it's listed, so it's ready to ride when it gets to you.

Will you ship?

We can help arrange shipping anywhere within 200 miles for a small fee. Outside of that area, we let the buyer find the most cost-effective way of transporting. We can provide contact numbers for shippers we recommend.

What is the 3-month, 3,000-mile coverage?

For peace of mind, we offer complimentary 3-month, 3,000-mile limited powertrain-only coverage on our bikes, with the exception of mechanic's specials. Coverage is limited to internal parts, excludes electrical components, and is capped at $1,500.

Do you offer additional vehicle service plans?

Yes. We provide multiple types of coverage and coverage durations to help give you peace of mind about your bike.

What is out-the-door pricing?

'Out-the-door' pricing is the total you pay to drive the vehicle home: the unit price plus our $349 administration fee, sales tax, and title and registration fees. Missouri dealers will begin collecting sales tax, title and registration as of 2027. Ask us for an out-the-door quote on any unit and we'll give you the full number, so there are no surprises.

Does Cycle Connection offer financing?

Yes. We offer financing options, and you can apply online through our loan application. We work with different providers for different credit needs.

Do you have a video of the motorcycle running?

Yes. We market our vehicles with professional photos and videos. If a listing doesn't have a running video yet, ask us and we'll make one for you.

Service FAQs

Repair, maintenance, inspections and pickup

09 QUESTIONS
I need new tires. Where do I start?

Before we can price tires and check availability, we need the tire size from the bike itself. It's printed on the side of the tire. We work on all types of bikes, and many customers bought theirs pre-owned, so we need exact details. A previous owner may have changed the wheels or tires, so what's on the bike now may not be the original equipment. Once we have the size, we'll need to know whether your wheels are spoke or mag, and what price range you have in mind.

Can you do warranty repairs if I bought my motorcycle somewhere else?

Yes, with one exception: factory warranty work must be done by a dealership authorized for that brand. We are authorized for the vast majority of Vehicle Service Contracts, including those sold by Harley-Davidson.

Do you offer motorcycle pickup?

Yes. Pickup is free within 20 miles. Between 21 and 200 miles, the cost is $2 per mile.

Can I just bring my bike by and have you look at it?

Our technicians' time is reserved for scheduled customers, so we can't pull them away for walk-ins. We're happy to schedule an hour to diagnose your bike's issue.

Can I drop my bike off after hours?

Yes. Please contact the service department ahead of time so we can tell you where to leave the bike and keys.

Can you do a state inspection?

Yes. We can do your inspection during business hours as long as our inspector is on site, so please call ahead. We do a thorough inspection because your safety is our top priority, and we want to make sure your bike meets all state requirements.

Can you install a part I bought somewhere else?

Yes. If it's a part we sell, there is a $25 charge per item. If it's a part made specifically for your bike, bought from the manufacturer, and we can't get an equivalent, we'll install it at no extra charge. The same labor rate applies in either case. We can only warranty parts we sell. If a part we didn't sell, such as a tire, turns out to be defective, we can't cover it, and you would be left without coverage.

Can I talk to a technician about a problem with my bike?

Our techs' time is committed to the customers on our schedule. Also, without actually inspecting the bike, a tech can only guess at the problem. The best way to get a real answer is to schedule a diagnostic appointment. Our service writers are also happy to answer general questions.

What's the difference between an oil change and a scheduled Harley-Davidson service?

An oil change is one job. A scheduled service is a full checkup that includes the oil change plus a lot more.

Oil change

  • Replaces the engine oil and oil filter.
  • Many Harleys can also get a "three-hole" change, which replaces the engine, primary and transmission oils. Harleys use separate fluids for each of these.

Scheduled service (for example, the 1,000-mile and 5,000-mile services)

  • Everything in an oil change.
  • An inspection against Harley's checklist, usually covering brakes and brake fluid, tires, drive belt, battery, cables, lights, suspension and loose bolts.
  • Replacing parts due at that mileage, such as spark plugs, the air filter or brake fluid.

In short, an oil change keeps the engine healthy. A scheduled service keeps the whole bike safe and helps protect your warranty.

Will Rider Training lower my insurance?

Many insurance companies offer discounts for completing a rider course. Check with your insurance agent.
